That slide and the trigger action are as smooth as warm butter. The FFL owner I use and his son both made comments about how smooth the slide is. I am working today and tomorrow but I am going to become "ONE" with all the info and tools supplied with it over the weekend. Plus, I know I said I was going to shoot it right out of the box but I changed my mind and will do a teardown and inspection and cleaning/lube.

The first thing I noticed about it, after what I said above, is the slight rounded feel of the grip. I really like that and feel it will give me a great grip at the range. We shall see.

It is interesting how Ruger chose a 1:16" twist rate for the barrel for competition. That would be perfect for USPSA major power factor with a light projectile (apx 115gr) In my view your new weapon should be very accurate with any of the shelf 115gr cartridge. I would love to give that thing a try!

Your new 1911 would be perfect for shooting IDPA competition! Your class starts out with 11 rounds so at the command "load and make ready" you would pull out a "Murphy mag" from your back pocket and load one round then remove that mag and install a full 10 round mag. No hurry and actually gives you a chance to deal with the stress.

I shoot IDPA and 3gun. My competition pistols are a little different. We shoot a minor power factor. Both my primary and backup XDm 5.25's have a 1:10 barrel twist. This twist rate will stabilize heavy projectiles. (147-160gr) A heavy projectile lets you have a slower FPS and still make power factor. I also use Titegroup or WSF for powder and my rounds recoil like a 22. At the club matches we don't check ammo but at the State Match I remember a tech guy reached right in my range bag and grabbed 8 rounds for power factor testing.

pnwruger you might have purchased the best pistol ruger builds. Den

I hope so because I spent enough on it. My other 2 1911's are great shooters but I have always thought about doing some hot rodding to them. Then I saw this pistol come out several months back and I decided to wait till I was getting soc sec checks along with me working my full time job and then spring in to action and get one. I am glad I did and feel I will really be glad when I shoot it at the range.

Soon as the weather stays clear and warm enough around here on a Sunday, I am going to the range. Promise to report back.
