I am not a scope expert , but I do know that 22 scopes are different than center fire scopes . 22 scopes are parallax free at shorter distances than higher calibers , usually 50 and 100 yards respectively . For more info you should google parallax /.22 scopes . Also , pistol scopes are meant to be held at arms length whereas the eye relief of rifle scopes is shorter .

I agree with pennsy....also, scopes for pistols differ from riflescopes in their "eye relief" distance since pistols are shot at arm's length and with rifles, the distance from scope's eye-piece to the shooter's eye is just a few inches. Generally, they are not interchangeable. Also scopes usually come in two sizes, ie. 1 inch and 30mm. diameter tubes, each of which requires specific size rings. I would be surprised that any scope/ring set-up for a 30-06 rifle would work on a pistol. Sorry, I have no experience with scoping a MK III, but suspect most shooters use a red-dot set up on .22 pistols.

Pistols take long eye relief scopes.
Rings are going to depend on how you are mounting to the pistol.
Short range guns, like MK III, a red dot is probably the best choice.

Older MK III, like mine, were not drilled & tapped for a mount, this one uses the original sight dovetail to mount.

I have really bad eyes and I struggle with iron sights. But I can still hit tiny things at surprising distances with them.

I'm not trying to talk you out of a scope, only trying to get you to make sure you really need one.

As for red dot sights. They are meant to be shot with both eyes open and focused on the target, not on the dot, nor squinting through it like it's a scope. If you use them properly, you see the dot and the bullseye at the same time. It doesn't matter which is bigger. If the dot is bigger than the bullseye, just center the bullseye in the dot. It takes a little practice to retrain ourselves to shoot them properly, but when we do, they're amazingly fast and precise to aim with.

The earliest red dot sights had a solid tube that you couldn't see though (occluded eye concept). They depended on being shot with both eyes open. One eye saw the dot and the other eye saw the target. The brain merged them.
I personally have a red dot (5MOA) https://thetacticalscopes.com/best-r...ght-under-200/ and it is far too big for precise shot placement. I tried it on handgun and it was just too big. Currently it is on a Marlin 336 35 Remmy and the only way I can use it at 100 yards is to crank the power down to dim so that I can see the black bullseye inside the red haze.

Now there are red dots that I would quickly utilize on a rifle but these hit the 400.00 plus range right quick and are multiple reticle with some having 2 MOA dots which offers a finer point of aim.
There are a lot of useful and interesting videos on this topic on Youtube, I will leave one here, I hope someone will help in choosing the future. Good luck!
