When you look at the "one shot stop" percentages you can see why my nightstand gun is a shotgun.

I have my old Remington Sportsman 16g in the corner by the headboard and my SR9c in my nightstand and my wife has the Taurus Judge 45lc/.410 in hers, I think we are covered.

Would I carry it as a defensive weapon? With no hesitation. I can put 10 in a close radius VERY quickly. Do I use it that way? nope. I carry my lcp, and my LC9 daily. I feel very comfortable with that arrangement...but without those two...i would feel quite comfortable with 10 stingers in my sr22pb.
    Why is there air?

I am sure I have posted on this before, but I will go again. No, I would not carry a .22 for defensive purposes. Is it better than nothing? Of course. Is it better than a rock, as some have mentioned? Of course it is. But their are much better choices available. A well placed .22 round, or several, will kill a BG for sure. Should I need my weapon, my goal is not to kill somebody. My goal is to make them stop ASAP. So for me, I want heavier lead. Even a .380 bullet looks pretty big when it is laid down beside a .22 bullet.

Just I didn't buy it for a carry gun I bough it for a plinker, the LCP and SR9c are my main carry options. I honestly believe more people than you think carry .22lr's I just believe they don't get on the forums and admit it.
Lots of old folks around here got their CPL from a place that provides 22's for the class. Not surprisingly they choose to carry a 22 since it's the only gun they've ever shot that they can control.

Hey romac, in which state did you take your concealed carry qualification? In TX, the proficiency test has to be taken with a centerfire at least .32 caliber.

If you are recoil sensitive, a 22 is a viable option for concealed carry. Not all of the people in this world are built like tanks that can handle recoil from the higher caliber brethren of the 22. That being said, a 22 is definitely not my first choice - nor is the 380. But if a 22 is what I got, then a 22 is what I got. The first rule of any gun fight is "have a gun."
