So I recently installed the XS standard dot night sights on my LCR .38spl and took her to the range today. I was wayyyy off target I used the guide in the installation manual for point of aim and my shots were going way low left. About 6+ inches low left. With the stock sights I was able to hit bulls-eye or at least 8/9 rings. With the XS sight I was hitting 5/6/7 rings left. I had a gunsmith take a look at it and he said the sights were on right. Any help would be nice.

Are you shooting from a rest? If not do so. It's quite possible that you're focused so much on the new sights that your flubbing your trigger control. I've heard of many having issues with getting the elevation right as real world results kind of differ from the instructions as far as the vertical alignment of the front sight in the rear sight "valley" but not many left issues.

Here is the most common reason for low & left.

"The most likely culprit is poor trigger control caused by anticipation. If you've worked on your trigger control and still think the problem is the gun, let an experienced Glock owner shoot your gun and see if they have the same problem."

It's not user error due to the fact that I can hit bulls eye with the stock sights. I may have the wrong sight picture but what I had to do to get shots on target was have front sight lower part be right above rear sight. So front sight was sitting on top of rear sight..

Do you have access to a laser bore sight? Buy or borrow one and stick it the barrel and see where the barrel points in relation to the sights. If they do not match, adjust them.

I'm not that educated with the LCR but I do understand that Ruger sells a version with the XS sights. I have install a few sets of XS sights on a couple of my own guns but always on the pistols with a new rear express sight at the same time. the sight picture I use with them is the front sight just resting in the v of the rear sight and the front sight covering my intended target. I've put them on 3 auto pistols, 1 shotgun, and 1 AR15.

What do the members here in general think about the XS sights. I've been thinking of putting the "standard" XS Big Dot on my LC9 but have been unsure if I should do this. I contacted Novak Sights who make actual 3 dot Tritium night sights so now I'm on the fence as to what to get. Id welcome the opinions of the members here. And thank you.

i ever you decide to install XS sights i would suggest you go with the BIG DOT. the bigger the front sight, the faster acquisition

I have the XS Big Dot Express on my LC9 and they work great. The worst part of installation is removing the old sights. 3 Dot sights have always been to busy for me. I used to love the old Sig lollipop system.
