Where you see larger, I see similar and very close. For some reason those numbers become even more insignificant when you realize that you might actually be in a situation that could get you killed. I never for a moment hesitate to not believe that the bad guy out there, is faster and better armed than myself. If I have a light weight 9mm snub nosed revolver, or a LC9S or a small 38Plus P, strapped to my hip and have practiced over and over again. Well then I may have evened up the odds. If I were the Wolf, I would much rather go after the weaker lamb. I would hesitate to go after the animal with bigger teeth, and trained to take me down.
The LCR is a good choice. It is not too big, it is more powerful, easier to grip and aim, and can be quick as lightening out of a holster on the hip.

Yes the pocket gun will have it's place, but only as a last resort when it is Impossible to carry anything but. However, later become fully armed. It is not difficult. A little snub nosed revolver can fit in a ton of different holsters made for concealment.
Look for opportunities, they are everywhere.

Believe me Dave, I put an LCR .38+P in my pocket without a holster before I bought my LCP and it was clearly a no go. Based on what's available, if I'm going to pocket carry (and I DO want to pocket carry), it's going to be micro .380 or nothing at all.
A man's got to know his gun's limitations!

10/22 Muzzlelite Stock Bullpup (Range Fun)
    Beretta Bobcat, .22 Rimfire (Plinker)
LCP Gen. 2 (Light Duty, DAO Concealed Carry)
    SR-101 .38+P (OWB, Now We're Getting Serious)
Remington 870 Wingmaster, 12 Gauge (Home Defense, Extremely Serious)
