If so, have you followed the instructions in the manual (page 23) to lubricate the hammer and hammer pivot pin at about the 1,000 round mark?

Thanks for asking, Skip, I wondered, also, but saw it had been posted in the LCR section. Bet a lot of us wouldn't have noticed that.

In this edition it's on page 19 (last paragraph):

Yes, over 1000 rounds fired not including dry fires. Easy Maintenance, but thanks for Posting, I am sure there are many that do not read manuals. Here is a simple procedure for taking care of your LCR. Takes less than 10 min.

It's pretty easy to keep track of rounds fired, but who keeps track of the # of dry firings?

That is a good tip, I had also bought a good T-10 driver as opposed to a dedicated torque wrench.

I, and probably many others, would not have bought the gun if we knew of fiddly maintenance advice like that, and even before I read that I figured that my wrist could do the torque wrench role. He's probably right about Ruger being mainly afraid that people would tighten those two precious screws up too tightly, so then why couldn't they just have emphasized that in their instructions? So what will happen in the screws are a few inch pounds off anyway...and do you think his lock tite recommendation is good? I have never heard of a gun requiring such fiddly maintenance. It seems that in the earlier editions they were telling people to do that after every trip to the range! Has the gun changed or just their instructions? I wanted to save 2 ounces so I got this gun. I probably should have stuck with my S&W 638 lawyer lock and all. Sorry, Dave, but it looks like this one isn't meant to shoot thousands and thousands or rounds either.

I tried it out twice so far. Oddly the non plus p practice ammo seemed to kick harder and nastier than the Hornady Critical Defense +P which felt good. I ordered a new smaller handle for it which should come tomorrow. The grip that came with it, The Hogue Tamer, is a little bulky and doesn't fit my hands that well. I have big hands but I generally prefer small grips and they are much better for pocket carry. I used to take the handle off entirely on my pocket carry S&W Airweight, and put a bit of plastic around the spring and then friction tape. I carried it like that for years. It was much more compact in the front pocket. Sometimes the range officers gave me a hard time and I had to put the handle back on, but I could shoot it perfectly fine the way it was. That was the old non plus p shrouded hammer Airweight, a very good gun. You can't do that with the Ruger as there's nothing much under the handle.

PS Chrome based browsers continue to have typing problems - space bar doesn't work - on forums. I have a workaround if u need it.
