Took my new to me LCP to the range today- and had massive issues.

I could chamber a round, pull the trigger, hammer comes down- but no "boom" I was shooting factory new Remington UMC fmj. It happened on 10 out of 50 rounds. I looked at the ammo afterwards, and the firing pin is hitting the primer- and it's not a "light strike". There's a pretty good dent in the primer of all 10 rounds.

    ANy suggestions ?

Contact Remington to get a refund for your ammunition.

Shoot any other brand ammo and compare the indentation on the primers with the failed rounds.

I would pull the bullets from the failed cartridges for safety, though I would NOT use my inertial puller. I would grab the bullet with a pliers while the base was locked in a vise. Do this only after talking with Remington's quality control folks.

as a follow up- I called Ruger Customer Service (since it was Fri afternoon at 4:45) and they did offer me a return label to have them check it out..

You guys think it was the ammo ?

I traded a Kel Tec P32 for Elsie , and it would eat anything.

Ruger service is top shelf. If there is anything to be corrected, they'll do it. However...
The gun should mechanically deliver a solid strike on the primer... it does that. Then it's up to the cartridge to do it's thing.
As stated... the indicators are pointing at the ammo. :P
Don't let bad ammo make you doubt the gun.

There sure is alot of problems with Remington UMC ammo, if its 380 or 9mm I've been reading here on the forum. I have a box of 50 in 9mm I haven't shot yet. Bought it at a gun show last fall. Makes me wanna go out and see if they'll work in my PC9. Luckly I have a few boxes of other brands to compare too.

I don't like where the firing pin is hitting the primers. Ruger told me that it is not normal and should hit more toward the center. That being said, if it was working before you were shooting "Ultimate Malfunctioning Crap" from you gun, then switch ammo.

I wondered about that too, Deadbolt- it sure is striking off center.. it might be missing the primer well..
