Hey just curious if anyone ankle carries their LCP? I just received my Aliengear holster, which I'm getting used to, but I wear a dress shirt that is tucked in and the black plastic clips aren't exactly "concealing". If you do which holster do you use? Is it comfortable? Thanks!!

I use a very comfortable Excel ankle holster for my Elsie and I got it at a local gun show several years ago. I can use it on my left or fight ankle and I do use it daily.

I don't ankle carry, but I do own an Alien Gear Holster. They do offer different belt clips that would address the problem you're concerned about. It's a great holster, so you may want to check out these clip options. Cheaper than another holster.

I've got a unkle mikes, it's not too bad. The velcro hold down strap on the back can be a little uncomfortable,.

While ankle carry isn't optimal, it beats not carrying.

Maybe my impressions are dated, but it seems like the ankle holsters don't stay put, either horizontally or vertically? Still the case, or have things changed?

While on road trip I wear mine. I threw away the calf strap first thing. I wear mine just tight enough that it doesn't rotate and low enough that most of the weight rests on my shoe.

the irritating strap... Ankle carry?-20160303_101958.jpg Ankle carry?-20160303_102022.jpg

The top three ankle holsters (in my opinion) are the desantis die hard, galco ankle glove and the alessi ankle holster (#1, but expensive). Unfortunately none of those holsters are available for the LCP.

The next level down are the Desantis Apache Ankle Rig and Galco COP Ankle band - both of these have padding on the inside of the gun, and in my opinion, that is ESSENTIAL for comfort in an ankle rig. Neither of these holsters are form fitted to the gun like the first 3 I mentioned, so you may want to find them locally and do a test fit it possible.

As someone mentioned, ankle carry is not optimal, but it's better than not carrying. Also, with a light gun such as the LCP, it will be very comfortable as long as you have a comfortable holster.

Also, for what it's worth, I find calf straps annoying as hell. Get something that fits tightly on your ankle. Your shoe will help hold it up.

I've got a road trip coming up and will likely use my new ankle holster b/c pocket carry while driving does not work.

If your shoe is "holding it up", doesn't sound very concealed to me.

That comment right there is what's held me back from using an ankle holster. My understanding is that the lower on your body the weight you carry, the heavier it feels. By the time a given amount of weight gets down to your ankle, it feels much heavier than it does when it's riding on your waist or in your pocket. That's why people prefer to buy lightweight shoes. And then of course there's the issue of getting this 70+ year old body straightened back up after I've drawn my gun from my ankle hoster. It's not going to get any easier as time goes by. ;-)
