I read on Crimson Trace website that when the battery runs low it doesn't stop working but begins to fade in intensity. The battery life for the Dl 1/3N is about four hours but that is meaningless to me given the fact I don't keep a log of battery usage.

So my question is; do you wait until the intensity fades or simply replace the battery every six to 12 months?

I wait until it's intensity fades. The one on my LCP stills has the battery it came with in Dec. of 09. However the one on my SR9c I had to change after about a year.

I purchase a Crimson Trace, They give me a free battery a year for life, so I will change it once a year.

Same here so it is at least once per year but if I see the intensity going I replace it also (after cleaning the lense!).

    Yup or (2) #357 batteries
Keep in mind if you shoot dirty ammo this will cause the laser lens to cloud over and it will look like the battery is dying. Just wipe lens with a Q-tip.
Certain ammo does this everytime when I shoot indoors.

I registered my product back in March 2011 and I registered for the free battery program but I have yet to receive a free battery. I also sent two emails to customer support and still no battery or a reply.

How did you obtain your free battery from Crimson Trace?
