At my LGS they check all ammo with a magnet to determine if it has steel components. They told me that the brass coated bullet has a steel core which eats up the back stop and they have had MANY instances where the bullet would bounce back and land behind where the shooter is standing. They showed me pictures of the back stop before they repaired it. It was on the Long range side where you can fire up to a 5.56. They have examples of the steel bullets and a magnet does stick to them.
Other than what they have showed or told me I know nothing about steel ammo. I would think the steel casing would be detrimental to the extractor.
In my 380's, anything with a XTP, as CD and the FTX just doesn't get the required penetration. I'd like to try some LeHigh, but not bad enough to order it online. Ruger's ARX? I'll pass for now.
+1 on the HST 124 gr. standard pressure .
