I know these guns have only been out for about a year, but does anyone know of an after market magazine for the LC9. Like non Ruger made. I searched Mec-Gar and looked at Mid-West, but no luck. I can't think of who else makes after market magazines. Yeah I know the Ruger is not that expensive, but just wondering if there are any other manufacturers out there at a cheaper price.

I'm with you. $30 each is high...

I've also wondered if the KelTec mags fit. I've found those as low as $15.

They're not as cheap as inexpensive 1911 mags, but you can find them for a lot better than $30. I think I paid about $20 from MidwayUSA on an existing order. Other places only a couple $ more.

Just stay away from Promag (I initially typed pornmag ). I had one that worked fine for the LCP, but none of the others I had for other guns ran 100%. Range use only.

You won't find any from Mec-Gar (at least directly) any time soon as they are the OEM supplier to Ruger for the LC9. According to emails and phone conversations that I had some time ago with Mec-Gar they have a non-compete with Ruger. All mags go to Ruger, Ruger then decide whether to send any to their distributers or keep them and use them for new firearm sales. From what I could gather, the mag "shortage" that existed a while back was because of Ruger needing the mags for new firearms....also keeps the cost of the mags artificially elevated.

Because of the apparent NC agreement we will have to look for Pro-mag as a potential supplier of a 10-round mag as I am unaware of any other potential maker...too bad they didn't seem real interested when I contacted them at the same time. Until then buy what you can when you see them...and good luck!

I have used the Pro Mags in the LCP to the tune of hundreds of rounds fired through them without any problem at all. Maybe I am lucky and just have a LCP that love's them.

This may seem sacrilegious on this site, so I'll mention that I have an LCP and a LC9...both of which I really like. (Hope that gets me out of trouble. )

When I bought my LCP, I was quite surprised that it only came with ONE mag, as did the LC9 later. Prior purchases of different brands all came with two. I just bought my first Glock (19, Gen 4) last week and it came with THREE mags and a loader.

With thirty dollars the normal price for a factory magazine, the pricing of the pistols is somewhat skewed downwards if the user needs to buy a spare magazine. I realize that Ruger is simply playing the price-point game in their retail market, but I was disappointed with the LCP and LC9 magazine tactics.

It's true though. Price out a Ruger 20 or 30 round lag for a Mini 14 or 30. High as can be, and not always easy to find.
