I just read the owners manual for my new LCP and notice it shows a picture of the LCP hitting the hammer area (as if dropped) and discharging. It states never to carry a loaded pistol becuase any pistol can fire if dropped. I thought the LCP was supposed to have been recalled to fix that problem (is this just legalese by the lawyers, or is there still a problem with the LCP firing if dropped)? Anyone have any info on that?

Yes, #371------- serial numbered LCP's were recalled to correct this problem. #372-------- and up numbered LCP's have the hammer block installed. I carry my LCP loaded with one in the chamber as I do all my CCW's.

Given that the gun is advertised as 6+1 that means it was designed to be carried with one in the chamber and, because of the way the LCP is designed, partially cocked.

The lawyers don't want Ruger to have legal liability if the gun is dropped and goes off thus the legal weasel words. It is extremely unlikely that it will fire if dropped but Ruger is unwilling to guarantee that and suffer legal harm if it were to happen.

I'd say be careful not to drop it with a round in the chamber.

CARRY YOUR LCP WITH ONE IN THE CHAMBER. IT's HOW IT WAS MENT TO BE CARRIED. HAVE NO FEAR. YOU DON'T WANT TO START RACKING THE SLIDE IN THE EVENT YOU NEED TO USE IT.

...I agree with finn and others. In addition, you should use an appropriate holster to properly guard the trigger. Also, when drawing the pistol, it is best to keep you finger away from the trigger until it is out and you are moving to the level firing position, as is the case with any CC piece. JMHO.

I carry mine loaded in a Uncle Mikes # 3 pocket holster. The #3 covers the trigger more than the #2 size pocket holster. Just my 2 cents.
