I've been pocket carrying J Frame and more recently Elsie for a number of years, always w/some sort of pocket holster. I put my whole hand in my pocket and sometimes walk around w/my hand in that pocket if I feel the need, dictated by conditions around me. The only down side is losing that pocket for other stuff or when seated behind the wheel of a car.

When I draw from the front pocket I place my entire hand into the pocket , thumb on the left side of the grip , index finger along side the slide and two fingers rapped around the grip . Pretty much the same as my pointing grip . I haven't tried any rubber grips on the LCP but I did on the LC9 and it did not work well . Being smaller , it may be ok for the LCP . I would try it first Bruce without removing the pin and see if you like it .

I can't quickly get whole hand into jeans pocket and around LCP with Hogue - so it's two fingers on grip and one on the slide (thumb is kinda up & out). I will give rear pocket a try around the house for a couple days and see what I think. Will simply using the Ruger holster give me a fair shot at it or should I spring for another pocket holster before deciding?

OK. Now I've got it. So as you're drawing your gun, your moving you're thumb downward to get it into the proper firing position. I can see that with enough practice, that would work. And it seems custom made for drawing a pistol with a manual safety as well.

I'd say you'll be fine using the Ruger holster for experimenting with rear pocket carry. Just make sure you draw your gun from a palm-in position (grip pointed toward your spine) rather than palm-out. Here's why:

That's exactly correct, except keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire!

I've never carried in my rear pocket but not because my jeans are tight back there (got the old man flat butt thing going on) just uncomfortable to sit on a gun.

Except that I don't wear my pants low enough to actually sit on top of my back pocket. And my LCP isn't flexible. So it rides behind my butt more than it does underneath it. Still, I will admit that rear pocket carry isn't the most comfortable. It has its place, though.

I have been carrying back pocket most of the time, jeans not tight, not baggy, since getting this pocket gun. Two middle fingers & thumb grab the gun, it comes right out ready to fire / or rack.
The problem I have is when I use the Remora IWB I first grab my back pocket out of habit then have to slide up to the holster.
