The Custom I purchased a few months ago is the 3755. This is the Davidson's Special with custom slide serrations.

Yep. The custom slide serrations are what distinguish the 3755 from the 3740. Out of curiosity, where was your 3755 manufactured? It's written on the opposite side of the slide in the picture you provided.

It looks like the Davidson's Edition should be labeled "LCP with Custom Serrations and Red Trigger".

Based on the 371xxx serial number, my "guess" is Prescott, AZ.

    The Mayodan LCP's I've seen were 372xxx.

As long as distributors keep ordering them, Ruger will keep making them. Unlike the 3740, however, the rep I spoke to does not anticipate that the 3755 will ever go into regular production.

    Hope that helps!

PS: During our conversation, the Ruger rep and I discussed the wisdom of carrying the LCP II with a round in the chamber. She was extremely candid with her remarks. Without going into detail, I can report that her comments would not gladden the hearts of those who have decided to do that.
I believe any manufacturer would respond in the same way. It's a liability thing. All the manuals say not to drop the gun, no matter how many safety features it has. The must error on the side of safety.

I see that now it has free shipping. When I put it in my cart last weekend there was a shipping charge. There is a 3% charge added for not paying cash.

Overall a great price but I don't really "need" one.

So you think a customer service rep for a manufacturer would be required to recommend against using a product made by that manufacturer because of a "liability" thing. If that's the case, why would the manufacturer make a product that required their representatives to suggest to their customers that they not use it? That doesn't make any sense at all.

The customer service rep I spoke to was obviously speaking for herself. As you were not privy to the conversation, you'll just have to take my word for that . . . or not.

Companies always cover their butts . The LCP manual says for maximum safety , The pistol should be carried with an empty chamber . (page 15) We all know how this topic goes .
