Of course I think there may be a lot of them being sold used. Some most likely with few rounds fired through. It has been my feeling that the vast majority of owners do not shoot them very much.
My 1st Gen has less than 150 rounds through it. Haven't shot my Gen2 yet.

I was wondering when that was going to happen when they just came out with the new LCPII. They will be probably going to have some great bargain $$ on them.

We had too many problems in too short a time with both our LCP II's, so we sold them both. Lack of reliability aside, we found after owning them for a short time that the larger size, bulkier ergonomics, and trigger [for a pocket pistol], all went against what we love about the GEN2.

Aside from our four GEN2 users, we have two GEN2's tucked away for a rainy day. But this afternoon we're heading back to the shop we bought the one from yesterday to pickup the last GEN2 they had. That'll give us three spares.

They're getting as rare as hen's teeth around here. Every shop has them on backorder and can't get them in.

But one shop owner yesterday said he spoke directly to Ruger and they told him they're going to continue making the LCP [GEN2] so buyers have a lower price point option.

Seems at this point it's all speculation, but we'll see soon enough.

Time will tell, of course. And perceived scarcity of a popular item is a good thing for driving up demand. Regardless of how much longer the LCP remains in production, it's to Ruger's benefit to leave some doubt in the marketplace about how much longer it will last.

Rumors abound, that is in large part what caused the ammo shortage, so if I were you I would try for at least 8 in the safe.

    Nah that's too many.

On second thought maybe not. My wife shoots her LCP's 3-4 times every week, I think she's trying to wear them out so she can go back to her P30's!!!

Just spoke with Ruger CS [supervisor] in Prescott, AZ. Here's what they had to say...

Is the original LCP pistol still being produced?
    Yes.

Does Ruger have any plans to stop making the LCP?
No. We are going to continue making both the LCP and LCP II.

I noticed some LCP's are stamped Mayodan NC, are they now being made in Mayodan instead of Prescott?
We have split production of the LCP between Prescott (AZ) and Mayodan (NC) to keep up with the high demand.

    Thank you.
You are welcome. And if you ever have a question about a specific LCP, call us with the serial number and we will gladly answer any questions you have.

Thanks for the update. Seems like the most specific info thusfar, but agree-sounds fishy.
