Carry it in a good holster that covers the trigger and if you pocket carry I would tell you in a pocket holster with nothing else in the pocket. At the end of the day, you are a big boy. You don't work for me for anybody else here. And I didn't even help you pay for the gun. So carry it the way you want. Its a gun forum. Sometimes we get up pretty high on the old soap box.

I hear you man, as the other fella said I think with time I will be more comfortable with one in the chamber..until I feel unsafe I will continue to carry without one in the chamber, I do understand the views though for carrying one in the chamber

I had to work up to it. Totally gave me the creeps at first, which was all mental of course. It is completely safe..........and pretty cool too. I have open carried it one time and somebody came up and said, "hey buddy, did you know your hammer is back?" I considered saying "OH CRAP!" and then lowering the hammer, but instead I went with the simple "yes, thanks".

If you didn't have one in the chamber and you got into what you believed was a threatening situation, what would you do? If you pulled your LCP out and racked a round, that would be considered brandishing. Now suppose they have this on camera and the person/persons that meant you no harm file a complaint? Doesn't go so well for you perhaps. What if you are in a bad situation, go to rack and get a jam. Also not so good. If you want to be able to defend yourself, you have to be ready.

So if you pulled out your LCP with one in the chamber it's not considered brandishing? Probably the same I imagine.. I could be wrong

I'm not disagreeing with anyone's view on the reason to have one chambered they all make sense... But for now I don't feel comfortable with one in the chamber. It surely isn't because I'm timid, scared or inexperienced I have many many rounds I have sent down range at the Taliban and many sent back at me in my days serving in Afghanistan... Albeit I was mainly shooting a XM218 50 cal machine gun out the side of my helicopter I was crewing...so it it boils down to preference and I think in time I will be more comfortable with one in the chamber... I also don't have one in the chamber with my M&P 40 compact...

    Edit..sweet avatar man!!

Pulling out a gun or even revealing your gun by opening your jacket to show in a threatening manner is considered brandishing a weapon in Indiana. Doesn't matter if it is loaded, empty, or one in the chamber.

I will only pull my weapon when I have full intent to use it, and the hope that I don't have to!

Agreed. God forbid that I ever have to actually draw my weapon there is probably going to be a loud bang. Twice I have actually had my hand on the gun, but in both cases the gun stayed put in the holster after the threat had subsided.
