    So true...

In conclusion just let me say there are NO reasons, good or otherwise, to carry an unloaded gun. (And, if anyone thinks a semi-auto with a full magazine and an empty chamber is loaded, then why won't it go bang when the trigger is pulled?)

I think most newbies to concealed carry are reluctant to carry with one in the chamber. It's like taking your first Wally Walk when getting your CC License you think everyone knows your packing In time you'll carry with one in the chamber. Know your weapon and practice.

I agree and actually think for some "newbies" to conceal carry empty chambered at first may not be a bad idea until they do get to know their weapon better and feel better mentally about carry with on in the chamber. They have made it this far unarmed. A few more weeks or months shouldn't matter. Under experienced and not confident could be a dangerous combo with one in the pipe.

I know I was when I started out! And I can admit that. I don't mind somebody new to the subject saying that. What gets me is seasoned people coming up with all sorts of hogwash on why carrying with an empty chamber is the thing everybody should be doing.

I have never understood why anyone would carry a pistol with an empty chamber. I know that in the past the Isrealis did it, but they were trained in that technique and it is all mucsle memory for them at this point. The vast majority of today's pistols and revolvers are perfectly safe to carry with a loaded chamber or full cylinder, so IMO you are really handicapping yourself if you carry any other way. Fine motor skills go out the window as adrenaline floods your system, and racking the slide, while not neccassarily a fine motor skill, is just one more thing to slow you down and possibly cost you the fight. I will carry my LCP with a round in the chamber in a pocket holster that covers the trigger and feel perfectly safe.
