    Remington recently announced a new 9mm sub-compact semi-auto handgun - the R51.
Looks good - they expect to be shipping them in the next month or two.
I'll be interested to see how they perform, and would like to handle, and shoot one myself, of course.
Specs are not up on their site yet, but this video is:

I would be interested in the specs myself to see just how it compares to other 9mm sub-compacts.

    More info on the R51:
A few things I found interesting - Aluminum, not Polymer frame, Short travel slide, Recoil Spring is wrapped around the barrel, rather than behind it, weight about the same as Shield and XDs, Height and Length about the same as Shield and XDs, (See overlay), No mention about the width or thinness compared to the Shield or XDs...? MSRP below $400.00 !!!

When I think Remington, I always think Shotgun or ammo......but, maybe they've got a winner in this little pistol...we'll see....

    Edit: I found these specs:
    Designer John Pedersen (action)
    Manufacturer Remington
    Unit cost $389 USD MSRP
    Produced 2014
    Specifications
    Weight 22 oz (0.62 kg)
    Length 6.6 in (17 cm)
Barrel length 3.4 in (8.6 cm)
    Width 1.0 in (2.5 cm)
    Height 4.6 in (12 cm)
    Cartridge 919mm Parabellum
    Action Pedersen "Hesitation-Locked" Action
    Rate of fire Semi-Automatic
Feed system Box Magazine, 7-shot capacity (9mm)
    Sights Drift Adjustable 3-Dot

Good info thanks. I have been giving some consideration to the Shield.

I very happy with my new M&P Shield, and would not give it up for anything else at this point.
But, if racking the slide is as easy as they claim on the R51, and recoil is as light as they claim, I'm thinking it may be a good
CCW semi-auto for my wife - hence my interest in this new firearm.

    Is your Shield a 9 or a 40?

Essentially the same size and weight as my SR9C but only a 7 round magazine and I'm gonna go ga ga over it?

    Don't think so.

Well I will be taking a very close look at it, seeing how Ruger did not come out with a new 9. I like what I have seen and heard so far.

My Shield is a 9mm. I've been carrying it every day in a FoxX OWB Hybrid holster for the past couple of weeks. Very comfortable and easily concealed with a light jacket.
I've only put about 200 rounds through it so far - 3 different FMJ's and my SD round (Hornady Critical Defense) - but, Zero issues!
Great shooter - fairly low recoil, accurate, nice trigger, and so far reliable.

The SR9c is a great handgun, for sure. (I have an SR9, and love it!)
What makes these sub-compacts (LC9, Shield, Berreta Nano, XDs, etc.) attractive is the width or thinness (less than an inch) of the firearm for all day conceal carry.
