Can anyone suggest a FMJ .380 for self-defense that they have extensive shooting experience with and have demonstrated reliability? I have had good luck with Winchester white box 95gr FMJ (flat nose). How is the round for defense? I understand the ballistic advantages of HP but I want the reliability of FMJ.

    Thanks

I'm using the FMJ FN WWB 95 gr presently ,but my gun is only 2 weeks old to me . There are plenty of other opinions here if you choose to search through Ammo Cache

I am using the same Winchester rounds. I shot 100 with no malfunctions. I had two malfunctions out of 50 using Monarch JHP. How many rounds have you fired?

I have shot 100 flawless rounds of WWB flat nose. But I use Hornady CD as my SD ammo. I have only shot 12 rounds of the Hornady though.

I am only aware of 2 makers of FJM-FN ball ammo, the WWB and Buffalo Bore. BB makes 2 versions, you might want to check them out. They will be more expensive than the WWB, but I think the fps & ft lbs of energy are greater with the BB. Good luck. Yogi

Blazer Brass is the FMJ I shoot. But I don't shoot it for self defense.

If you are considering using FMJ rounds for carry, this thread (below) will be interesting for you to read. It changed my mind. I now choose to carry with FMJ for the reliability and penetration. JMHO after reading.

I am planning to pick up some of the Buffalo Bore but am currently carrying S&B FMJ. I know it's not a premium round but it was available, seemed to test well and has been 100% reliable in my LCP.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend ANY FMJ for SD carry in the LCP. No point in saying anymore as this topic is discussed, ad nauseam, every few weeks on nearly every gun forum. There is plenty of literature on the web written by renowned gun authors with much more credence than most forum members.
I can say just about any quality brand of ammunition will feed flawlessly through the LCP.
